In 2014, Carlos V Palace took a step forward in accessibility. Until that moment, people with movement incapacity did not count with any access facility to the building elevators, so they couldn’t visit the palace. However, the managerial staff claimed that it was a dream for them to open the palace to those people and assure that their movement limitation does not mean any obstruction in their desire of enjoying Alhambra’s art.
The challenge was to design an elevator with the necessary properties that makes the project plausible, but that at the same time, fitted with the Palace renaissance architecture. The answer to this question was the harmonization of glass with stainless steel, which resulted in a care, elegant, functional and traditional lift.
From In-metals, we had the honor of participating in this undertaking through our Linen and Pyramid sheets. Due to their high resistance and anti-slipping qualities, they are ideal for their application in elevated traffic zones, and offer a higher security in special necessities cases, such as this circumstance.
